Alyssa Skilnick (she/her), a contemporary fine artist based in Alberta, Canada, specializes in various mediums including charcoal, gouache, and oil paint. From a young age, she was drawn to the arts, becoming inspired by the European Masters such as Bouguereau and Velázquez. Although raised surrounded by contemporary abstract art, her passion for the fine arts led her to The Florence Academy of Arts in Jersey City (FAAUS).

Her pursuit of artistic excellence faced an unexpected turn with the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, compelling Skilnick to adapt and continue her studies online. This challenging period resulted in the award of a joint Diploma from Studio Incamminati and FAAUS. The experience not only honed her skills in classical drawing and painting techniques but also deepened her understanding of color theory.

As an artist, Skilnick has always been drawn to the stories that lie beneath the surface—hidden narratives that often go untold but are deeply felt. This perspective informs much of her work, including her latest series of paintings, inspired by her personal experiences and struggles with women’s health. These works critique the systemic neglect of women’s voices and pain, exploring the emotional and physical toll of navigating a healthcare system that often dismisses their experiences.
